Like spring flowers, for sale signs bloom on the front lawns of many midstate homes this time of year. It’s the prime home-selling season, and the market could be about to heat up.
With news of a national housing recovery and evidence of sustained market improvement in Central Pennsylvania, the rules for buying and selling homes might be changing this year.
With home prices holding their ground or gaining slightly and the time each home spends on the market shrinking, the recession-worthy standby of coming in with a low-ball offer could be a thing of the past.
That said, simply slapping a for sale sign on a house won’t guarantee a full-price sale. Buyers still have broad latitude to be picky, especially when prepared to pay near-listing prices.
